Dental-Medical Cross Coding – Billing your dental procedures to your medical insurance

At Pearl Dental Arts we are beginning to implement dental-medical cross-coding. The health profession has come to a consensus that the mouth is the most important gateway to the rest of the body. Our administration is looking into medical codes that apply to our procedures in order to submit claims to your medical insurance and to get your the most coverage for your dental procedures.

A specific instance where this applies is with one of our patients from Yardley, PA. This patient has severe asthma and during an asthma attack, she often coughs out her dentures, resulting in embarrassment and possible broken dentures. We are working with her medical insurance to show a medical necessity for dental implants to secure her dentures within her mouth. If we can prove the medical necessity to her health insurance company, we have decreased the patient’s financial responsibility and can provide her with extremely affordable dental implants to make her life more comfortable.
